The Turquoise Coast feels most real once you're out on the water.
Fethiye, tucked into a natural harbour on Turkey's southwest coast, is where most gulet cruises begin.
Pine-covered hills roll straight down into clear bays, and the pace of life slows the moment you step aboard.
If you're considering a Fethiye gulet cruise for the first time, here's everything you need to know, from the stunning coastline and daily life on board to the delicious meals served each evening. We'll also introduce you to our own Seyhan Cann gulet cruise, which sails from Fethiye Harbour throughout the season.
The Fethiye Coastline: Why It's Turkey's Favourite Gulet Route
Fethiye sits at the western end of Turkey's Turquoise Coast, and it's become the natural starting point for gulet cruises because it’s one of the best sailing waters in the Mediterranean.
Within a day or two's sail, you're moving between secluded bays, uninhabited islands, and harbours that can only be reached by boat.
A typical route touches spots like Kizil (Red) Island, the yachting town of Gocek with its boutique shops and marina, and Cleopatra Bay, home to an ancient hammam rumoured to have been a gift to Cleopatra herself.
It's a mix of swimming, quiet anchorages, and the odd bit of history, all without the crowds you'd find on a land-based itinerary.
If you want to see more of the wider region before or after your cruise, our Turkey Holidays and Fethiye pages cover the destinations nearby.

Life Onboard the Gulet
A gulet is a traditional wooden Turkish sailing vessel. Think handcrafted timber, broad open decks, and a much slower, more personal pace than a standard cruise ship.
There's no fixed entertainment schedule and no crowds; a typical gulet carries between 10 and 20 guests, so it feels more like a shared private charter than a commercial cruise.
Days are built around the coastline rather than a clock.
Mornings might start with breakfast on deck, followed by a swim stop, a lazy afternoon under the sun (or in the shade, if you'd rather), and an evening anchorage somewhere quiet for dinner.
On the Seyhan Cann specifically, the boat is family-run; the captain's wife cooks each meal fresh, and guests say it feels less like a charter and more like being welcomed into someone's home for a week. The saloon is air-conditioned for a few hours a day to take the edge off the midday heat, and there's a mix of sunny and shaded deck space so you can pick your spot.
A Fethiye Gulet Cruise Itinerary
Every route shifts a little with the weather, but a week aboard the Seyhan Cann looks something like this:
- Day 1: Depart Fethiye Harbour in the afternoon, sailing to Kizil (Red) Island for the first overnight stop.
- Day 2: 'A Bay' for a morning swim and lunch, then on to Zeyno Bay for dinner.
- Day 3: Binlik Bay, followed by a visit to Cleopatra Bay and its ancient hammam.
- Day 4: Göcek, time to wander the marina and boutique shops before returning to the boat for the night.
- Day 5: Bedri Rahmi Bay for a swim, then on to Liberty Island (Hurriyet Adasi) for the evening.
- Day 6: Turunc Pinari in the morning, Akvaryum Bay for dinner, and an overnight stay.
- Day 7: A final swim at Samanlik Bay before heading back to Fethiye.
- Day 8: Breakfast on board, then disembark and transfer to Dalaman Airport.
The order of stops can change at the captain's discretion depending on sea and weather conditions. That's normal for gulet sailing and always done with guest comfort and safety in mind. You can see the full route breakdown on the Seyhan Cann itinerary page.

Cabins and Facilities
Cabin expectations are one of the most common questions we get.
The Seyhan Cann has 9 cabins in total (8 doubles and 1 twin), each with wooden interiors and an en-suite bathroom with shower and WC. It's a comfortable, unpretentious standard rather than five-star hotel luxury, which is part of the charm; you're there for the coastline, not the cabin.
Onboard facilities include Wi-fi (though this can't be guaranteed depending on location), a canoe and fishing equipment, an LCD TV in the lobby, board games, and an ice maker. Every cabin has a life jacket and fire extinguisher as standard.
If you want to see exactly how the cabins are laid out, the deck plan is available on the product page.
Meals Onboard
Gulet cruises usually run full board, and the Seyhan Cann is no exception.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included, cooked fresh each day using local, seasonal ingredients. Expect proper home-style Turkish cooking, including vegetable-forward mezze, fresh fish, and regional dishes rather than a buffet-style setup.
Drinks aren't included in the base price but are easy to add on: a soft drinks package runs £70 per person per week, an alcoholic drinks package is £180, and a combined package is £250. These are paid directly to the captain onboard, in cash (sterling or local currency).
Who a Fethiye Gulet Cruise Suits
Gulet cruises work best for people who are happy to share communal spaces and meals with a small group of fellow guests and who like their holidays unstructured rather than tightly scheduled.
That makes them a strong fit for couples looking for something quietly romantic, families wanting a week that mixes swimming with downtime, and groups of friends celebrating something together. The Seyhan Cann has hosted more than a few birthday and anniversary charters.
It's less suited to travellers who want daily excursions, nightlife, or a fixed routine. If you're the sort who wants to know exactly what's happening at 3 pm every day, a land-based multi-centre holiday might suit you better than a gulet.
When to Go: September Availability
September is one of the best months for a Fethiye gulet cruise. The sea is still warm from summer, but the daytime heat has eased off. It's also when the Seyhan Cann currently has a Special September Departure Discount, saving up to £500 per person.
2026 September departures: 7, 14, 21, 28 September.
Departures run every Monday, and discounted cabins are available in limited numbers on select dates, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you're planning to travel in September, it's best to inquire early to secure availability.
Ready to Book Your Fethiye Gulet Cruise with Diamond Star Experience?
There's no shortage of companies selling gulet cruises online. Most of them are reselling boats they've never actually seen.
Diamond Star Experience works differently.
We've spent over 30 years building relationships with captains and crews across the Turkish coast, and every gulet we recommend, including the Seyhan Cann, has been personally inspected by our team before it ever goes on the website.
That matters more than it sounds. It's the difference between booking a photo and booking a boat we'd send our own family on.
You also won't be routed through a call centre. When you enquire, you're speaking to someone who has sailed these routes themselves and knows the difference between one bay and the next. It's why so many of our guests come back year after year, sometimes requesting the same captain by name. And because every holiday is ATOL and TTA protected, your money is as safe as the trip itself.
If the idea of drifting along the Turquoise Coast on a family-run gulet and eating home-cooked Turkish food each night sounds like your kind of week, don't let the good September dates slip by; cabins on the discounted departures go quickly.
