The largest of Croatia’s National Parks is the Plitvice Lakes National Park in the very heart of Croatia, in the region which connects the Adriatic coastal region with the area inland. There are three islands on the lake where visitors can enjoy walking amongst the pristine natural beauty, savouring the serene setting. Waterfalls cascade into the crystalclear waters with a canyon and even a cave to explore. It is the perfect spot to unwind and escape from the pressures of modern life. As you walk through the National Park you may really feel that you have discovered heaven on earth.

Each has left its mark in the form of a treasure trove of architectural glories. Diocletian’s splendid palace in Split was the largest private residence in the ancient world, and is still awe-inspiring today. The medieval island town of Trogir, and the picturesque old walled city of Dubrovnik are two of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.

Many of the islands retain a distinctly Venetian character, especially the beautiful town of Hvar, with its piazzas and grand Venetian Gothic architecture with ornate balconies and spires.
