Aegean Sea Cruise Itinerary: From Athens (Lavrion) to the Greek Islands & Ephesus - Kusadasi, Discover the Timeless Magic of the Aegean

Step aboard the Elysium, a truly boutique cruise ship dedicated to creating a perfect harmony of wellbeing, discovery, and connection. This is not a conventional cruise—it’s an intimate, experiential journey across the Aegean Sea, designed for travellers seeking authenticity, comfort, and meaningful exploration.

Your voyage will be spectacularly unique, combining relaxation, wellness, learning, and cultural discovery. Rejuvenate with holistic onboard experiences, uncover ancient wonders, and explore two fascinating countries—Greece and Turkey—on one seamless journey.

Sail to Kusadasi on the Turkish coast and visit the world-famous ancient city of Ephesus, one of the most remarkably preserved archaeological sites in the world. Walk through history as you explore its grand marble streets, temples, and the legendary Library of Celsus.

Continue to the sacred island of Patmos, one of the most important Christian pilgrimage sites in the world, where Saint John the Theologian wrote the Book of Revelation. Visit the Monastery of St. John and the Cave of the Apocalypse, both significant landmarks in biblical history.

The Elysium experience is a fusion of mindful travel and discovery—a journey that soothes the soul, awakens curiosity, and celebrates the beauty of the Aegean. From cultural exploration to peaceful reflection, this is a voyage unlike any other.

Day 1: Lavrion (Athens) – Delos

Embark at Lavrion Port between 14:30–15:30, where you’ll be greeted with a refreshing welcome drink as you check in aboard your elegant cruise vessel. We set sail toward Delos, with dinner served en route, arriving late in the evening. Overnight at anchor.

Pre-embarkation tip: Lavrion, the nearest port to Athens International Airport, offers a rich maritime heritage. Once a bustling mining town, it now charms visitors with its waterfront cafés and traditional seafood tavernas. Explore its scenic marina and enjoy a leisurely stroll before your voyage begins.

Day 2: Delos & Mykonos

Awaken to the mystical island of Delos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. Explore the sacred ruins and temples that celebrate the mythic birthplace of Apollo. After lunch onboard, we sail to nearby Mykonos, famed for its vibrant energy and island glamour. Spend the afternoon exploring at your own pace—wander through the narrow lanes of Chora, discover stylish boutiques, enjoy sunset drinks in Little Venice, and capture the beauty of the island’s iconic windmills. Late evening departure for Patmos. Overnight at sea.

Day 3: Patmos

Arrive in the morning at the sacred island of Patmos, where Saint John the Theologian wrote the Book of Revelation. Join an optional excursion to visit the Monastery of St. John and the Cave of the Apocalypse, or explore the island independently. Return onboard for lunch with stunning views of Patmos’ coastline. Later, wander through Skala, the island’s lively port town filled with shops, cafés, and tavernas. Overnight at port before an early-morning departure toward Kusadasi.

Day 4: Ephesus - Kusadasi (Turkey) & Samos

Arrive in the morning at Kusadasi, one of Turkey’s most beloved seaside towns. Spend your day browsing local markets or join our guided excursion to the Ancient City of Ephesus, one of the world’s best-preserved archaeological wonders. Return to the ship for dinner onboard, then set sail for the lush Greek island of Samos. Overnight at port.

Day 5: Samos – Paros

Wake to the serene landscapes of Samos, once home to Pythagoras and Aristarchus. Known for its lush greenery and deep history, Samos invites exploration. Choose a guided island tour or discover its charming villages and local wineries at your own pace. In the late afternoon, we set sail for Paros, cruising overnight across the moonlit Aegean.

Day 6: Paros

Start your day with a refreshing swim stop in a secluded bay surrounded by crystalline waters. We then continue to Paros, a perfect blend of Cycladic charm and cosmopolitan flair. Explore its picturesque villages, relax on golden beaches, and shop in stylish boutiques. In the evening, experience Paros’ lively nightlife—from waterfront cocktails to vibrant bars—before returning onboard for an overnight stay at port.

Day 7: Sifnos – Return to Lavrion

Arrive in the morning at Sifnos, an island renowned for its whitewashed architecture, scenic hiking trails, and celebrated gastronomy. Choose to explore on your own or join an optional excursion to visit the medieval Kastro and the iconic Church of the Seven Martyrs, one of the most photographed spots in the Cyclades. Stroll through Apollonia, the island’s charming capital named after Apollo, and enjoy its boutique shops and inviting cafés. In the evening, return to the ship for a farewell cocktail and dinner, raising a toast to the unforgettable memories of your Aegean island cruise. Late-night sail toward Athens (Lavrion).

Hello Diamond Star

This is to thank you for arranging a fantastic week on the Elysium for us. We decided to take the earlier week you offered rather than wait till next year and what a good decision that was! Your arrangements worked perfectly out and back , the boat had a large team of American travel agents on board who were good company and the weather of course was fabulous, 25-27C every day. The ships company were outstanding, food was excellent, entertainment was great and with a few small changes to the itinery, we had a most enjoyable week. The ships Visitor Manager, Mark, was 120% with his planning and attention. By coincidence there were 2 Irish folks on the cruise, Peter and Sandra Hunt, who were booked with you, who also had a good time.

We will be in touch with you again for next year!

Best Regards

Gary Savage - 30/10/2023

I would strongly recommend Diamond star Experience for booking a holiday , We will def book again with them when returning to Turkey. Thanks and well done ! A truly wonderful Break" Mrs Wilson  - 21 Aug 2025

"A week's trip on Perla del Mar captained by Mustafa, with chef Dohan, and crew Cem, Emre and Meric turned out to be the best family holiday we had ever booked. Akin's recommendation of the boat was spot on. Dohan's menu and cooking was absolutely excellent. The crew went out of their way to assist us at every opportunity and their care and attention to the children on the trip was exemplary. There wasn't a single fault that on the whole trip, the transfers worked perfectly, the crew were there to greet us at Marmaris and led us through the alleys to the waterside where the amazing boat in front of us was to be ours for a week. We were all taken aback and realised that Mum's mad dream was coming to fruition. A holiday found by google, sold to us by Akin who took the trouble to explain everything turned out to be beyond the dreams of all of us. Canoeing in quiet coves, swimming and snorkelling to our hearts content then served with drinks and snacks before amazing meals and enjoying the trips between coves became the order of each day. I can firmly recommend this holiday to anyone. It was simply amazing." Christine - 25 May 2025

" We went to Diamond Star experience because they offer multi-centre holidays and had good ratings. We were in no way disappointed with what was organised. We said that we wanted a few days in Athens and then a week on a relatively quiet island. Akin made a proposal (Athens then Naxos) and then, when we agreed, organised everything. The Athens hotel was central and accessible to the main sites and to restaurants, and was of very good quality. The choice of Naxos for the island was equally good and we stayed in an excellent three star hotel on the edge of the town within easy reach of the beach and restaurants. All transfers were efficiently organised and even when there was a transport hiccup (our fault!) there was a phone call from the Athens back-up team within the hour to find out what had happened.
Thank you very much, Akin and staff, for a really enjoyable holiday and for service which can be easily be recommended.
