Celebrate Greek Easter, Greece’s most cherished tradition, on an 8-day small-ship cruise through the Cyclades. Departing on 30 April 2027 aboard Galileo, this special sailing combines island scenery with distinctive Easter customs and local celebrations, from Good Friday in Poros to Holy Saturday in Folegandros, Easter Sunday in Santorini, and time in Paros, Delos, Mykonos, Syros and Kythnos.

Day 1: Athens, Marina Zeas (Piraeus) - Poros — Day 1 | Good Friday

Join us at Marina Zea in Athens for a welcome drink and meet your crew and fellow passengers. We then set sail for Poros, arriving just in time for dinner. Today offers a chance to experience Greece’s Good Friday traditions. Locals decorate the Epitaphios, the symbolic bier of Christ, with flowers, before it is carried in a solemn evening procession through the streets during the Service of Lamentation, honouring Christ’s death — a moving and unforgettable sight. Enjoy an evening walk ashore in Poros, before we continue our overnight journey to Poliegos. Overnight at sea.

Day 2: Poliegos - Folegandros — Day 2 | Holy Saturday

Wake up in Poliegos, an uninhabited island known for its stunning beaches and turquoise waters. The hardest decision of the day will be whether to dive straight into the sea or enjoy a relaxed breakfast on deck. We recommend you do both. A morning swim stop is followed by a BBQ on board as we continue sailing. In the afternoon, we head to Folegandros, one of the Aegean’s most beautiful and lesser-known island. Explore Chora, the island’s picturesque main town, with its whitewashed alleys and the Venetian castle perched above the sea. In the evening, experience the moving Easter celebrations at the church of Chora. On Easter Sunday night at midnight, the priest proclaims “Christos Anesti” (“Christ is Risen”) and the Resurrection flame is shared from person to person. The atmosphere is deeply spiritual, with church bells ringing continuously and boats in the harbour sounding their horns in celebration. Overnight in Folegandros.

Day 3: Santorini — Day 3 | Easter Sunday

Santorini calling. We’ll arrive early with plenty of time to explore the capital, Fira, as well as the smaller village of Oia with its blue-domed views over the caldera. This is the place to get those Instagram shots. On board, our Hotel Manager and Chef will be grilling lamb to mark this special day. Enjoy a lively Easter celebration all morning long with Greek music, traditional snacks, and local wine. As evening falls, enjoy the world-famous Santorini sunset with sundowners on deck. Overnight in Santorini (on anchor).

Day 4: Antiparos - Paros — Day 4 | Easter Monday

Today we’ll sail to Paros, with a quick stop in a beautiful bay on neighboring Antiparos. Yes, you’re welcome to dive in. In Paros, explore both the port city of Parikia, and Naoussa - a quaint, and incredibly photogenic village in the north. In the evening you will have time to enjoy your dinner in a tavern overlooking the sunset. Overnight in Paros.

Day 5: Delos - Mykonos — Day 5 | Easter Tuesday

Before waving ahoy to Mykonos, we’ll stop for a few hours at sacred Delos. The island is an archaeological site, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Join us on a guided tour before we sail to the cosmopolitan island of Mykonos. Here, the night is yours. Join the jet-set and vibe at the hottest bars and restaurants. Overnight in Mykonos - in case you don’t want to leave the party early!

Day 6: Syros — Day 6 | Easter Wednesday

Wake up and refresh with a morning dip in the sea then all aboard for the trip to Syros, the capital of the Cyclades. Here you can relax, rest, and rejuvenate on the beach, or you can take part in our optional tour and explore the town and its unique architecture. Overnight in Syros.

Day 7: Kythnos - Marina Zeas (Piraeus) — Day 7 | Easter Thursday

We begin our journey back to Athens, with a last opportunity to jump into the inviting sea at Kolones Bay, Kythnos. Dry off as we sail towards Cape Sounion to view the Temple of Poseidon from the sundeck. On arrival back at Marina Zea, enjoy a Captain's Farewell Dinner before bedding down for one more night on board.

Day 8: Athens - Marina Zeas (Piraeus) — Day 8 | Easter Friday

Breakfast and disembarkation will take place between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. But this is not goodbye — only farewell for now. We hope you enjoyed the Easter celebrations and that your fellow cabin mates have become friends you’ll keep in touch. As for us, we look forward to welcoming you aboard one of our cruises again soon.

Hi

WOW what a super trip. Flights, transfers etc all worked like clockwork. The Galileo is fantastic, really good food, super crew, lovely cabin with excellent air conditioning. There were actually only 19 passengers, which meant there was plenty of space and an almost family atmosphere. I was travelling alone and the only down side was that with such small numbers only one of the excursions went ahead- not really a problem as it made me make a bit more effort and use local buses! Loved the places we visited, so easy to get ashore, had 2 transfers by tender to super beaches and 2 lovely long sessions swimming from the boat. Thank you for your efficient organisation of a holiday that ticked all the boxes.
Best wishes

Holy Saturday in Folegandros Island

A hidden gem that proves that small is beautiful, Folegandros charms with its rugged landscapes, relaxed rhythm, and authentic Cycladic character. Its main town, Chora, sits on a cliff edge, with whitewashed alleys, elegant church facades, and traditional tavernas offering stunning views. A highlight of the journey is Holy Saturday in Chora, when the island gathers at the Church of Panagia for the midnight Resurrection celebration. At “Christos Anesti,” candlelight, ringing bells, and a powerful sense of tradition create an unforgettable atmosphere.

"A week's trip on Perla del Mar captained by Mustafa, with chef Dohan, and crew Cem, Emre and Meric turned out to be the best family holiday we had ever booked. Akin's recommendation of the boat was spot on. Dohan's menu and cooking was absolutely excellent. The crew went out of their way to assist us at every opportunity and their care and attention to the children on the trip was exemplary. There wasn't a single fault that on the whole trip, the transfers worked perfectly, the crew were there to greet us at Marmaris and led us through the alleys to the waterside where the amazing boat in front of us was to be ours for a week. We were all taken aback and realised that Mum's mad dream was coming to fruition. A holiday found by google, sold to us by Akin who took the trouble to explain everything turned out to be beyond the dreams of all of us. Canoeing in quiet coves, swimming and snorkelling to our hearts content then served with drinks and snacks before amazing meals and enjoying the trips between coves became the order of each day. I can firmly recommend this holiday to anyone. It was simply amazing." Christine - 25 May 2025

" We went to Diamond Star experience because they offer multi-centre holidays and had good ratings. We were in no way disappointed with what was organised. We said that we wanted a few days in Athens and then a week on a relatively quiet island. Akin made a proposal (Athens then Naxos) and then, when we agreed, organised everything. The Athens hotel was central and accessible to the main sites and to restaurants, and was of very good quality. The choice of Naxos for the island was equally good and we stayed in an excellent three star hotel on the edge of the town within easy reach of the beach and restaurants. All transfers were efficiently organised and even when there was a transport hiccup (our fault!) there was a phone call from the Athens back-up team within the hour to find out what had happened.
Thank you very much, Akin and staff, for a really enjoyable holiday and for service which can be easily be recommended.
