DAY 1 : Arrival
Arrival at Athens International Airport, meet and transfer privately to your hotel for check in. Remaining of your day at leisure for a first taste of Athens. Discover yourself Plaka, the oldest district of Athens, located under the Acropolis, the only district a visitor may see the Greek capital as it was 100 years ago or enjoy your shopping at Kolonaki or Ermou and Voukourestiou streets. Stay overnight at your hotel in Athens.
DAY 2 : Athens sightseeing Tour
Breakfast in hotel. Morning city tour of Athens with sightseeing and visit of Acropolis and its museum, including a panoramic tour of the city and a visit to Acropolis Archeological site. Our expert guide will take you to see the center of the city, the Constitution Square (Syntagma), the House of Parliament (ex. Royal Palace), the Tomb to the Unknown Soldier, Schliemann’s House, the Catholic Cathedral, the Academy, the University and the National library. On your way to the Acropolis you will see the Hadrian’s Arch, St. Paul s Church, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and will have a short stop at the Panathenaic Stadium, where the first Modern Olympic Games were held in 1896.
On the Acropolis visit, you will explore the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens, including the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion with its porch of Maidens and finally “the harmony between material and spirit”, the monument that “puts order in the mind” and the famous Parthenon.
Return to your hotel and remaining of your day at leisure. In the evening participation in Athens By Night. Your evening begins with a short panoramic drive through the City Center and at the slope of the sacred hill you will be able to see, admire and take photo of the illuminated Acropolis. Then a pleasant walk through the narrow streets of Plaka, the old city, finally will bring you at a Typical Greek Tavern where you will enjoy your dinner following a floor show with live music and Greek Folk Dances in traditional costumes. DAY 3 : Epidaurus – Mycenae – Olympia
After breakfast depart from Athens and start your 4-day classical tour. Leave by the coastal road to the Corinth Canal (short stop). Drive on and visit the Theatre of Epidaurus, famous for its remarkable acoustics. Then proceed to the town of Nauplion (short photo stop) and through the plain of Argos arrive to Myceane and visit the Archaeological Site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. In the afternoon (optional stop for souvenirs) depart for Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games through Central Peloponnese and the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Overnight in Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games.
DAY 4 : Olympia - Delphi
In the morning visit the Archaeological Site with the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the altar of the Olympic flame, the Ancient Stadium and the Archaeological Museum. Then drive on through the plains of Ilia and Achaia, short stop in Patras town and afterwards cross the magnificent bridge of Corinthian Bay driving from Rion to Antirion. Pass by the picturesque town of Nafpactos, along the coastal road arrive in Delphi- known in ancient times as the navel of the world. In the afternoon visit the picturesque mountain village of Arachova. Overnight stay in Delphi.
DAY 5 : Delphi – Kalambaka
After breakfast visit the Archaeological Site and the Museum of Delphi, one of the most important museums in Greece. Depart for Kalambaka via Central Greece (short stop by Lamia). Kalambaka is a small town stated at the foot of the astonishing complex of Meteora, gigantic grey rocks crowned by the Meteora Monasteries. Overnight in Kalambaka.
DAY 6 : Meteora Monasteries – Athens
Visit Meteora, among striking scenery, perched on top of huge rocks which seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless Monasteries, where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. To enter the monasteries, appropriate clothing is required. Return to Athens via towns of Trikala and Lamia and passing the heroic monument of Leonidas of Sparta at Thermopylae. Arrive in Athens early in the evening and overnight.
DAY 7 : One Day Cruise to Saronic Islands
Our first stop is the picturesque island of Hydra. Here you have free time for a walk or a swim. Embarkation and sail for Poros, separated from the Peloponnese by a narrow strait and offering a most enchanting view of Poros town. The lunch will be served during the voyage. Time will flow quickly… And after a 2 hour trip we shall arrive to our last port of call, the island of Aigina. Optional excursion to the fine preserved Temple of Aphaia Athena. Overnight at hotel in Athens.
DAY 8 : Return journey
After breakfast, depart at indicated time for Athens International Airport for your return flight.
